The zip block was broken

The bag my waist trainer came in was broken, and I couldn't get to the waist trainer so I had to rip it open. It says I have to have the bag an I do. The waist trainer still fits in it an all but it is ripped at the top. Am I still allowed to do my exchange? It wasn't my fault?
